APICCAPS has a very important role in the growth and consolidation of the Portuguese footwear industry, both internally and externally. In conjunction with AICEP (Trade & Investment Agency) they help their members with internationalization, giving them the opportunity to exhibit their collections in the most important footwear trade shows all over the world.

They publish magazines, brochures, statistics and many others, including the World Footwear Yearbook.

They have an extensive marketing campaign called Portuguese Shoes: The Sexiest Industry In Europe.

But that’s just the more visible side of this association. APICCAPS works closely with some other institutions in the footwear field:

The CFPIC (Design and Footwear Academy) promotes many courses, from footwear design to industrial management, foreign languages and marketing, and many others. Part of the formation is made in factories and other companies. The CFPIC is situated in the two main regions of footwear, São João da Madeira and Felgueiras.

The CTCP (Footwear Technological Center) is a Research and Development center. They are an important backup for this industry, as they give technical help in many fields. Not only they research and develop new ways of making shoes, but they help this industry with issues related to software, industrial licensing, work environment, legal issues and many, many others.
